• Her role model is another professional model, SHIHO.

• She has been athletic all her life. She has won a swimming competition in her homtown when she was in elementary school, and has been a captain of a basketball team when in high school.

• Her nickname is Ebi-chan. However, Yu Yamada and Moe Oshikiri call her “Ebi” for short.

• She has super flexible thumbs. She can bend her thumbs backwards like this picture;

 

• She has an identical twin, Eri.

Eri has graduated from a nursing school and worked as a nurse for four years, before she sets up her own business for physical therapy services for children.

 

• She began dating a Japanese singer, ILMARI since 2009 and until they got married in 2010.

When asked how she was proposed on a TV talk show, she responded;

“From the second time we met on, he kept saying ‘Let’s get married!”. He was not even my boyfriend. We just met.

When we finally started to officially date, he arranged a getaway trip to Okinawa for both of us.

Once we got there, he took me out for a walk to see a sky with full of stars there(which we cannot see back in Tokyo). He then gave me his handmade ring, saying,

‘Let’s get married”

and I responded with, ‘Yes, Let’s!’  Hahaha! “

Hearing her story, a talk show host nudged Yuri, “Oh, you two were so casual when it comes to a marriage proposal!”

• Her now husband ILMARI is half Japanese and half Finnish.

ILMARI is his middle name in Finnish. His Japanese name is Keisuke Ogihara.

He was born in Helsinki, Finland where his mother is originally from and moved to Tokyo soon after his birth, where he was raised.

• Her twin sister, Eri has been married a firefighter since 2004.

Yuri gets along with Eri’s husband, Ryo so well that they even hang out alone when Eri is busy.

At one point, three of them have lived together, before Yuri met ILMARI.

She told in a talk show,

“Ryo is like, ‘ I am so lucky, because I can get to see my lovely wife and when she is not around, then the look-alike. But he is not handsome at all. So I am not (so lucky)” .
